  Using Illegal Means for Righteous Activism

  i wanted to get people's opinion on something.

  how do you feel when people use illegal means while performing their activism to shed light on the watchtower.

  there have been people who have illegally recorded conversations with elders and with branch offices or at meetings.

  I'm actually split on this. When someone approaches a cart with a "story" that isn't really true.....I bristle a bit. Of course that story IS true, just not of the person speaking.

  The database could be a mess of it was just downloaded and posted. It would contain innocent people, rip open old wounds, and more. So I prefer that be declassified in a larger court case for the sake of transparency.

  As far as recording JC's.....I have zero issue with it. this is because if you requested to record it, they would not meet with you. they would however carry out the judgement phase of the meeting without you present. Since there is no legal protection for you because of the first ammendment.....record away.

  a poster on another thread said it's a new rule brought in at this years convention.. last year they were told to shun even non df people and now this?

  a religion cant force someone where to plonk their ass surely?.

  You have to shun non-disfellowshipped people now?

  Says who? I don't recall that being a clear direction and i followed last years convention pretty tight.

  Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands

  i have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.

  also, for families.

  the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

  Ummmmm....actually I have seen this in plenty of non-JW's as well. A friend of mine has a joint facebook account due to his wife, saying she would prefer it.

  So controlling?.....yeah i think so. because of being a JW? nah.

  JW Parents and kicking out their children

  is it a common practice for jw parents to kick their children out of the home, if the child doesn't want to be a jw.

  (even though their not disfellowshipped they will still get kicked out for not going to meetings etc.??).

  do other religions encourage kicking family members out this as well?

  JW parents are encouraged to shun their disfellowshipped children. If they are minors living at home, they do not ask them to be kicked out, and allow normal conversation "not related to spiritual things".

  So that is the policy, but some parents extreme or liberal. As an adult, I have family that does speak to me, and others that don't. I'm not disfellowshipped, s some have taken it upon themselves to shun me on their own.

  Its important to note, if the child no longer lives at home, then they are required to shun them the way they would anyone else. "The spiritual relationship comes before the physical one", is what we would have said.

  i am genuinely curious.

  after all i was a jobo 50 years and thought the wbt$ was 100% correct.. i ask this because i see that, for example, christian denominations (or whatever), likely have differing interpretations of the same writing.

  Nope. No hints. I realize my chosen path might be on the other side of the globe, or might be in the place where a naughty servant of mine just touched you funny.....but no hints. No backsies. No sneaky reveals.

  Figure it out. Make sure you are right though because its death if yo don't (or hell, or bad reincarnation, or eternal nothingness......see......you thought you had me there didn't you.)

  Spiritual headship question

  non jw here married to a jw.

  i was told by two witnesses that if a woman jw were to marry a non jw that she would have no say whatsoever in what their children would believe or go to church if he was of a different religious belief and he enforced it.

  from what i've read in different threads this is actually not the case.

  The JWs teach the man is the head of the household. I don't think it gets much more specific in regard to what you are asking. You are saying a JW woman would have no say if she marries a non-JW man? Well not to state the obvious.....but wouldn't that be between them?

  You are 13. You can be good at whatever you want! Really start killing school. Find a sport to play. Figure out your passions, and then fight for them. its hard for a parent to see their child excited and working towards something, and deny them of it. Just say you will "make up" the meeting or something. give them a way out.

  Keep on learning. Anyone here if they could go back to 13......wow! :)

  They lied about methuselah tree at convention

  there was a part about pine trees in california mountains at regional convention.

  the brother/organization lied about how old they are.

  he said oldest tree is 4200 years old when it is actually 5000 years old.

  So they are contradicting themselves with that article. Its too hilarious. Whoever wrote it didn't even think about the flood!

  Unless of course they actually believe this tree made it through a global flood and survived under water for what....30 days? That valley isn't very high. Wouldn't exactly be the first to see the sky after a flood. Lol.
